Topic: Cannot connect iPhone or Andriod to ESP8266

I followed the steps in a YouTube video to create a simple LED on and off project.  The YouTube title is "Arduino UNO & ESP8266 and control using smartphone".  After performing the steps I got to the part where I select the WiFi network named RemoteXY, I see the SSID and when trying to connect, my iPhone says "Unable to join the network" and my Android Phone says "Authentication error occured".  What am I possibly doing wrong?

Check the Wi-Fi hotspot password you set. It must not be shorter than 8 characters.
