Topic: Soft Access Point on Chromebook

I have created sketches on two different ESP-32 Dev boards that work well with the door openers in my shed and shop.  I am using Soft Access Point as Internet Access is not available near those buildings. They work fine with my iPad and iPhone with the IOS version of the RemoteXY app.  They also work with an Android tablet and the Android version of the RemoteXY app.

I now have a Chromebook.  I installed the Android version of the RemoteXY app.  It recognizes the Access Point but will not communicate with it.  Do I have to enable some type of permission?  I notice there are various choices in the App settings on the Chromebook for the RemoteXY app but they haven't solved my connection problem. It is likely something simple. TIA

There is no version for Chrome OS.

Re: Soft Access Point on Chromebook

I guess that explains the situation then.  I have an iPhone8, iPad Pro, Onn Android Tablet and a HP Chromebook.

I created a test sketch yesterday with an ESP32 CAM for practice.  I used the soft access point style of communication.  It works with the IOS devices and the Android Tablet.  I thought it should work with the Chromebook since it is an Android variant but it did not.

I also created another sketch that uses Classic Bluetooth.  It only works with the Onn Android tablet.  It does not work with the IOS devices.  It does not work with the Chromebook either.

Today I will create another sketch using BLE.  I expect this will work with the IOS devices since it has in the past.

I'm disappointed in the ChromeBook but it was cheap enough. I can use it for Internet situations or playing my vast collection of MP3 songs.

Thanks for the reply.
