Is there a way to test for Bluetooth connection?

I use RemoteXY and Bluetooth to control small robotic rovers.  Is there a way for my bots to tell if the BT connection has been lost so they can go into a failsafe mode if communications is lost?

I've searched the forum and haven't found a way yet.
