Topic: RemoteXY alternatives ?

As the developer of this nice app seems to have left planet earth (and leaving bugs in the app), I am wondering which alternatives are available. More specifically, am I looking for an app that
- is available both on Android and iPhone
- can control all kinds of Arduino/ESP8266/ESP32 boards
- has a configurable user interface

Regarding other apps, there is
- Blynk, but this requires an internet connection and doesn't support Wifi softAP
- RoboRemo, but this isn't available on iOS
- Makeblock, but this only supports BLE and specific UUID
- Bluetooth Electronics, only Android and no Wifi SoftAP

Any other ideas?

“BLE Joystick”  (is game pad, available for both Android and iOS)

"Joystick bluetooth Commander" (BT 2.0, Andriod) - works very well

"GoBLE" (BLE, iOS, requires UUID/CHAR to be changed to DFB0/DFB1) - works very well - probably the best joystick

"LOFI Robot" (BT2.0 and BLE, available for Android and iOS) - but joystick doesn't work very well

the developers have not left the project because the library is being updated (for the last time this year)
